Celebrate ORGULLO’s 2024 | ¡HOLA!
A WELCOMING WAVE OF HISPANIC LGBTQI+PRIDE

HOLA is a Spanish word which means ‘Hello’ or ‘Hi’ and primarily used as an informal way to greet each other. It is pronounced as ‘Oola’ with a very faint ‘H’ sound.

OLA is a feminine noun that means wave in Spanish. It can refer to a sea wave, an abundance wave, a weather front, or a wave of cultures and sharing. For 2024, Celebrate ORGULLO comes in with a WELCOMING WAVE to what makes us all unique and unites us.

HOLA es una palabra en español que significa «Hola» o «Hola» y se usa principalmente como una forma informal de saludarse. Se pronuncia como «Oola» con un sonido de «H» muy débil.

OLA es un sustantivo femenino que significa ola en español. Puede referirse a una ola marina, a una ola de abundancia, a un frente climático o a una ola de culturas e intercambio. Para 2024, Celebrate ORGULLO viene con una ola de bienvenida a lo que nos hace únicos y no s une.

ABOUT NATIONAL HISPANIC HERITAGE MONTH
The observation started in 1968 as Hispanic Heritage Week under President Lyndon Johnson and was expanded by President Ronald Reagan in 1988 to cover the 30-day period from September 15 through October 15. The day of September 15 is significant because it is
the anniversary of independence for Latin American countries Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras and Nicaragua. In addition, Mexico and Chile celebrate their independence days on September 16 and September 18, resp ectively.

Unity Coalition|Coalición Unida es una organización sin fines de lucro de la Florida, con enfoque en el Liderazgo, protección y promoción de los derechos civiles de la comunidad latinx|hispano LGBTQ+ (lesbianas, gay, bisexual, transgénero, cuestionando) en el sur de la Florida desde el 2002.

SOBRE EL MES DE LA HERENCIA HISPANA
La observación se inició en 1968 como la Semana de la Herencia Hispana durante la presidencia de Lyndon Johnson y fue ampliado por el presidente Ronald Reagan en 1988 para cubrir un período de 30 días a partir del 15 de Septiembre hasta el 15 de Octubre. El día 15 de Septiembre es importante porque es el aniversario de la independencia de varios países de América Latina como Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras y Nicaragua. Además, México y Chile celebran su independencia el 16 y 18 de Septiembre, respectivamente.
